Beginner triathlon course

Your first triathlon starts here.

Do3’s Get Into Triathlon course is built for complete beginners, nervous first-timers and anyone who wants triathlon explained properly without the usual confusion, unnecessary jargon and faff.

Three standalone courses. Practical coaching. Real-world advice. A clear progression from “I’m thinking about it” to “I actually feel ready.”

Choose your start point

Each course stands alone, so you can book just the one(s) you need most, or you can book all three for a thorough overview to give you the knowledge to tackle a race with confidence.

You do not need to be fit already

The course is built for people starting from wherever they are, not where they think they should be.

You do not need fancy kit

We show you what matters, what can wait and what beginners often waste money on.

You do not need experience

This course is for beginners who want triathlon explained clearly and practically.

You just need a starting point

That is exactly what these sessions are designed to give you.

Why this course works

Instead of leaving you overwhelmed, we give you a clear way forward.

This is not about drowning beginners in information. It is about helping you understand the sport, focus on the right things and feel far more confident about taking part.

1

Understand the sport

Enjoy a clear explanation of how triathlon works, what to expect and how the swim, bike, run and transitions fit together.

2

Learn what you actually need

Cut through the noise around kit, training and race prep so you can focus on the things that genuinely matter.

3

Feel more confident

Reduce the uncertainty that holds beginners back, especially around fitting in, fitness, skill levels and race-day nerves.

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Here are some FAQs.

These are the questions most beginners ask before they commit.

Do I need to be fit or sporty already?
No. This course is for people at the start of their triathlon journey. You do not need to arrive feeling ready — we will help you get there. Whatever your fitness level, skill level, body shape or age, you are welcome.
Do I need expensive triathlon-specific kit?
No. You need basic, safe kit to get going. We will help you understand what is genuinely useful and what beginners can avoid spending money on until they know they want to do more.
Do I have to book all three courses?
No. Each course is standalone and can be attended in isolation. Book the one that helps you most right now, or book all three for the best overall experience and value.
What is the benefit of booking all three?
Booking all three gives you the most complete experience. You will cover understanding the sport, practical triathlon skills and basic bike self-sufficiency, whilst also saving £38 and getting 50% off any Do3 training plan.
Is Bike Maintenance Essentials suitable even if I know almost nothing about bikes?
Yes. It is specifically aimed at those who have little knowledge of how to maintain or fix their bike and lack confidence to try. Have the basics explained clearly and practically, without jargon or assumptions.
Do I need my own bike for the practical sessions?
Yes, you should bring your own roadworthy bike and helmet so the advice and practice are directly relevant to what you will actually ride. If you need tips on suitable bikes or helmets, please ask.
Will this help me feel ready for a real triathlon?
Yes. That is exactly the point. The sessions are designed to remove confusion, build confidence and help you feel much more prepared for taking part in your first event.
What if I am nervous or feel out of place?
That is very common, and it is exactly why this course exists. These sessions are designed to make triathlon feel more welcoming, supportive and achievable.
What happens after the course if I want more help?
You can join our regular training sessions, move on to a Do3 training plan, speak to a coach, or work towards a beginner-friendly event with a much clearer idea of how to go about it.
