Do3 weekend round up 21-22 April
Do3, the Midlands based triathlon squad, headed to the capital with a large presence at Virgin London Marathon, as well as racing in Cheltenham, Ludlow and Blackpool.
Sonya Tate and Tasha Redman competed in the Mira Showers Triathlon at Sanford Parks in Cheltenham with Tate completing the race as 4th woman and 29th overall and Redman coming 2nd in her age group.
Seanin Gilmore and Claire Jackson raced the UK’s toughest duathlon, Storm the Castle. Held in Ludlow, Storm the Castle comprised a 10km hilly run, 33km hard graft bike and a final 5 km run. Both Gilmore and Jackson came 2nd in their respective age group category.
Stratford on Avon’s Carl James and Warwick’s Mel Knight ran the warmest ever Virgin London Marathon, along with Amy Hinton from Chipping Norton. Neil Wicks of Stratford-on-Avon took part in the Blackpool marathon and came second overall with a time of 2hrs 47mins 17seconds.
Dave Knight, Do3’s head coach comments, ‘It has been another good weekend for the squad as we assert our presence at events across the country. Our numbers our growing and for sure the results from the hard graft the squad puts in is showing. Those early mornings, freezing endurance runs and winter miles are paying off on the podium; well done all’.
