Do3 kicks off Grand Prix competition with the Not The Roman IX
More than twenty Do3 athletes ran the Not The Roman IX kicking off their 2018 season.
The 12km race – which started from Stratford on Avon and passed through the local Warwickshire countryside – was also the opener to Do3’s 2018 Grand Prix competition of events encompassing triathlons, road races and sportives.
Squad members from across the counties raced the Not The Roman IX and proved to be one of the largest and liveliest contingents at the event.
Ashely Mitchell was first home for the squad with a net time of 47.00; he finished 13th out of a field of 458. Second home for Do3 was Helix Sport’s Yusuf Ibrahim-Zai followed by Tim Tandy.
Seanin Gilmore pulled in an impressive 50.46 to be first in her age group category while also shaving three minutes off her 2017 race.
Alison Robbins, a first timer at the event, posted a notable 1hr 07 and finished 15th in her age group.
Dave Knight, Do3 coach said, ‘What a remarkable start to the season; these results are proof of the hard work and commitment that’s already been put in by everyone. The camaraderie and pride demonstrated by everyone underlines what a very unique group we are. My thanks also go to the supporters who were loud in voice and were at the finish line to help refuel our runners. It’s been quite a start to the season!’
